This Tuesday, June 14th, Micron Optics will be exhibiting together with National Instruments and Fischer Connectors at the 1st International Workshop of the Superconducting Magnets Test Stands. The event is taking place on the first floor of the CERN Globe of Science and Innovation in Geneva, Switzerland.
Measuring 27 meters high and 40 meters in diameter, the Globe of Science and Innovation is an impressive visual landmark symbolizing Planet Earth and is CERN’s outreach tool for its work in the fields of science, particle physics, leading-edge technologies and their applications in everyday life. Inside this unique structure is where the SMTS Workshop will be located and will provide insight into the design and testing of the superconducting magnets that will be produced within the HL-LHC project between the years of 2018 – 2024. Regarding the design of the magnets, there are several institutes together with CERN participating in the testing of the models, prototypes and even the series magnets. Some institutes are equipped with adequate infrastructure while others are completing their installations during the next coming years.
