(Atlanta, GA, March 29, 2013) – Micron Optics, Inc., a global leading innovator and provider of fiber optic sensing systems and tunable laser technology, today announces a new training program for channel partners, systems integrators and customers worldwide. The three-day course will be offered four times annually with the first course scheduled for May 20-22, 2013 at Micron Optics’ world headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia USA. The main objective of the new training program is to ensure that customers are maximizing success when deploying, integrating and maintaining Micron Optics’ fiber optic sensing products and solutions.
During the three-day training, participants will learn the basics of the optical technology that underlies Micron Optics’ fiber sensors and instruments as well as in-depth product information covering the full portfolio of Micron Optics’ sensing products: sensors, instruments and software. The course will also focus heavily on application-based knowledge, installation best practices and use tips that will help to ensure successful deployment and integration. As a part of the training, all attendees will perform a complete sensor installation in a “real-world” test-bed as a means to gain practical experience with sensor installation, software setup and interrogator function.
“Finding new and creative ways to enable our customers’ success is paramount to our mission at Micron Optics,” said President and CEO, Jeff Miller. “Whether it’s determining the condition of aging infrastructure like bridges and dams, monitoring the health of an offshore oil well or terrestrial gas pipeline, or enhancing the efficiency of a wind turbine generator, fiber optic sensing has become one of the fastest growing technologies deployed to monitor the condition and performance of critical infrastructure all over the world. This new training program is part of a larger strategic initiative aimed at ensuring the success of our global network of system integrators and is another step toward our mission of enhancing the safety, security and wellbeing of people.”
