Harmonically mode-locked glass waveguide laser with 21-fs timing jitter by J.E. Malowicki, M.L. Fanto, M.J. Hayduk, and P.J. Delfyett, Jr.; IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, v.17, no.1, p.40 (2005).

Abstract: We report on experimental jitter results of a 10-GHz mode-locked laser. The laser is an actively harmonically modelocked fiber laser using an erbium-doped glass waveguide as the gain medium. Amplitude noise and corresponding phase noise effects are greatly reduced by the inclusion of an intracavity high-finesse fiber Fabry-Pérot etalon. Typical results show timing jitter of 21-fs root mean square, integrated from 10 Hz to 100 MHz.

Compact all-optical clock and data recovery for variable length asynchronous data packets based on integrated MZI switches by P. Bakopoulos, D. Tsiokos, O. Zouraraki, H. Avramopoulos, G. Maxwell, A. Poustie

Abstract: We present and evaluate a compact, all-optical Clock and Data Recovery (CDR) circuit based on integrated Mach Zehnder interferometric switches. Successful operation for short packet-mode traffic of variable length and phase alignment is demonstrated. The acquired clock signal rises within 2 bits and decays within 15 bits, irrespective of packet length and phase. Error-free operation is demonstrated at 10 Gb/s.
